News Changes in broadcasting frequencies of terrestrial television in Zachodniopomorskie Province

On the night from 29 to 30 March 2020 (from Sunday to Monday) the broadcasting frequencies of terrestrial television channels will change for Multiplexes 1 and 4. The changes will affect the areas of Białogard and Koszalin only.

The broadcasting frequency change will apply only to broadcasts on Multiplex One (MUX-1) and Multiplex Four (MUX-4) in Zachodniopomorskie Province. The switchover will take place on the night from 29 to 30 March 2020 between 0000 hrs and 0500 hrs. The requirement to change the broadcasting frequencies arises from the 700 MHz band refarming project currently under implementation across Poland. The signal will be transferred from channel 45 to 21 (MUX-1) and from channel 40 to 28 (MUX-4) respectively.

MUX-1 includes broadcasts of the following programmes: TVP ABC, EskaTV, TTV, Polo TV, ATM Rozrywka, TV Trwam, StopklatkaTV, FokusTV. Information on broadcasts available on MUX-4 is available on Cyfrowy Polsat’s website.

Viewers affected by the broadcasting changes are not required to make any changes in their receiver antenna settings. Once the changes are complete, most TV sets should update their TV channel lists automatically. However, for some TV sets it may be necessary for the user to retune the channels manually. It is a simple operation that can be carried out in the TV set’s settings menu with the use of a remote control.

The MUX-1 broadcasting range of Emitel’s broadcast facility “RTCN Białogard/Sławoborze” covers the following municipalities: Barwice, Będzino, Białogard, Biesiekierz, Bobolice, Brojce, Brzeźno, Czaplinek, Dobra, Drawsko – Pomorskie, Dygowo, Golczewo, Gościno, Gryfice, Grzmiąca, Ińsko, Kamień Pomorski, Karlino, Karnice, Kołobrzeg, Koszalin, Łobez, Manowo, Maszewo, Mielno, Nowogard, Ostrowice, Płoty, Połczyn-Zdrój, Przybiernów, Rąbino, Radowo Małe, Resko, Rewal, Ryman, Siemył, Sławoborze, Świdwin, Świerzno, Świeszyno, Trzebiatów, Tychowo, Ustronie Morskie, Węgorzyno and Złocieniec.

– From the perspective of terrestrial TV viewers in Zachodniopomorskie Province, the broadcasting frequency change is unlikely to cause any major problems. The broadcast directions will not change, so it will not be required to readjust the receiver antenna settings. Most TV sets will automatically update their channel lists. Only a small number of TV sets will have to be retuned manually, said Jerzy Godek, a Management Board Member and Chief Technology Officer at Emitel S.A.

The so-called “700 MHz band refarming” is an operation that involves transferring terrestrial television multiplexes from the 694–790 MHz band to a lower 470–694 MHz band due to the requirement for EU Member States to free up the 700 MHz band for mobile operators (5G services). The changes are compliant with the Ordinance of the President of the Office of Electronic Communications of 17 January 2020 on the frequency utilisation plan for the 470-790 MHz band.

Information on the changes is available on Emitel’s website. The current broadcasting station parameters can be found at www.emitel.pl/strefa-klienta/odbior-rtv/sprawdz-parametry-emisji/ and in the EmiMaps application at www.emitel.pl/strefa-klienta/odbior-rtv/aplikacja-emimaps/
